GROUND CONTROL can apply for and receive on your behalf, the International NZ Screen Production Rebate (NZSPR) for your next production when you choose to base your project in New Zealand. It is a very transparent uncapped rebate application with a cash payout approx. 3 months after final application submission.
The NZSPR offers a 20% cash rebate on qualifying production expenditure (QNZPE)
Minimum QNZPE of NZ$4m for all television, theatrical feature and streaming productions
No more ‘Above the Line’ (ATL) cap - this is now been removed as of 1 January 2026.
The NZSPR uplift offers a further 5% rebate on QNZPE - making a total 25% Rebate
Minimum threshold of NZ$20m QNZPE to qualify for the 5% Uplift
